Helping Substance Using Teens and Their Families

My expertise is helping adolescents and their families develop strong, lasting relationships. I am passionate about this work and have dedicated my career to it. I’ve written three books and numerous scholarly articles about working with adolescents and maintain a consistent blog for professionals helping them better help their teenage clients/students.

I co-created, validated, and published the evidence-based Mindfulness-Based Substance Abuse Treatment (MBSAT) program for teens struggling with substance use, trauma, anger/emotional dysregulation, behavioral issues and more. The program combines individual and family sessions (and sometimes groups) to help youth learn self-regulation and impulse control via the transformational power of mindfulness, identify their triggers and cravings, develop self-knowledge while transitioning from adolescence to adulthood, and develop, rebuild, or repair authentic relationships with their family. If your child/teen is struggling with any of these issues and you’re interested in getting this evidence-based intervention, please fill out the form below to schedule a parent intake and start the assessment process.

I also work with teens struggling with anxiety, depression, and other issues but have a limited number of slots per week and often prioritize families interested in receiving the MBSAT Intervention.
